At Sitka, we believe in leaving the world a better place than we found it. In 2015, Sitka employees and customers formed the Sitka Society for Conservation. The SSC cemented Sitka's commitment to conserve and restore what we depend on most - clean air, water, and soil.

The SSC focuses on grassroots initiatives with tangible goals and outcomes to conserve and restore the environment.

Old growth forests are a doorway to the past. We work in tandem with the Ancient Forest Alliance to build a boardwalk through Avatar Grove, with the intention of having it be designated as a provincial park. This designation would save the grove from clear cut, preserving it for future generations to enjoy.

We work closely with Pacific Wild to con- struct a hydrophone network that helps build the case for designating the Great Bear Sea a marine acoustic sanctuary. This would prevent oil-tanker traffic in the area, saving plant and animal life from possible spills and intrusive noise that interferes with their natural routines.
