In the past eight years, Peter has been defeated in competition only once on Canadian soil, and that loss came in round 16 at the 2010 O’Neill Cold Water Classic to a rampaging Josh Kerr, who went on to be the event champion. The past 24 months have also been exceptional for Pete, and aside from the competitive accolades, most notably his win at the 2009 O’Neill Cold Water Classic, he’s been featured on the cover of Surfer Magazine, starred in Taylor Steele’s “Innersection” not once but thrice, and, along with his fiancé Lisa, celebrated the birth of their first child, Asher. Although his skill level is no doubt equal to or above that of most traveling professionals chasing world tour qualification, Devries has no plans of doing so, and would much rather be at home spending time with his family, or jumping in a boat with a couple of close friends and heading up to his favourite Canadian slab, exchanging barrels all day until it’s time to retire to a tent in the woods for the night and do it all over again the next day.
